The Green Workplace Representative Program will not start in September 2010 as originally scheduled.
In response to student feedback, the NLC is rescheduling the classes and redesigning the curriculum to better fit student needs. A summary of the revised curriculum, along with a new schedule for these courses in 2011, will be posted soon, here on the Green Labor Journal website.
Course Schedule for the Green Workplace Certificate Program:
1) Introduction to Green Jobs and Green Workplaces / Sept 26 - Oct 1, 2010; 2) Green Audit I: Building the Sustainable Workplace / Dec 5 - 10, 2010; 3) Green Audit II: Reduce, Re-Use and Recycle / March 6 - 11, 2011; and 4) Building Green Labor-Management Partnerships / June 5 - 10, 2011.
The National Labor College will observe Workers' Memorial Day on April 28 by honoring the vicitims of the mining tragedy in Montcoal, West Viriginia, and the Tesaro Refinery explosion in Washington State, along with hundreds of other workers who have lost their lives on the jobs.
New Program trains unions members, others to green the workplace. In cooperation with the AFL-CIO’s Center for Green Jobs, the NLC has developed the Green Workplace Program in order to empower working people to advance the cause of sustainability in their workplace.
Welcome to “Green Labor Journal.” The labor movement has gone green – and one of the goals of Green Labor Journal is to showcase these union green initiatives in an accessible (and sustainable!) format, and to provide up-to-date information from a labor perspective on new developments in green policy, technology and work processes.
